 Cahill fit and ready

Cahill fit and ready

EVERTON boss David Moyes might hate it when Tim Cahill travels halfway around the world to don the green and gold in a midweek fixture, but that won't stop the Socceroo midfielder.

After Cahill limped off late in the Toffees' 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough on Sunday with an injured heel, Moyes lamented the amount of travelling Cahill would be doing this week and suggested that the ailment could be something that might need more than just rest.

Yesterday, after walking laps and training lightly alongside his teammates at the Al Muharraq Stadium, Cahill declared himself fit and ready to play a full game against Bahrain, despite what his club manager thinks.

"Obviously he's not going to be very happy with me playing and I have got a few (injury concerns). The club does come first and they do pay my wages," he said.

"But this is a World Cup qualifier and I think it's one of the most important games of our group."

Cahill has been dogged by a series of foot injuries in recent years and only returned to action in the English Premier League in September.

Cahill said while Australia would respect a suspension-ravaged Bahrain — Milan Macala's team is missing four players from the tie — the Socceroos were more concerned about their own performance.

"We have learned a bit about them. They have got four players suspended, but we are looking at them worrying about us, not us worrying about them. We will show them a lot of respect, and they are a good force in the way they play," he said.

"They are very technically gifted and I feel that we need to take them really seriously and show them the respect they are due. Hopefully, we give a lot more and get the result."
