Tasmania held on to defeat South Australia by three wickets in their Sheffield Shield clash at Bellerive Oval today.
The hero for the home side was Tim Paine who finished with an unbeaten 69 to help the Tigers recover from 6-76 to reach 7-184.
He was ably assisted by Brett Geeves, who made 36 in a crucial stand of 71 that swung the game Tasmania's way.
Resuming this morning at 6-140, Geeves was dismissed in the second over of the day, undone by a superb ball from South Australian quick Shaun Tait.
Tait lost his radar shortly after, sending two wide deliveries to the boundary that conceded nine precious runs.
Gerard Denton, for the second time in the match, batted with a cool temperament in association with Paine, and it was his exquisite cover drive to the boundary off left-arm spinner Aaron O'Brien that brought the scores level after 70 minutes of play this morning.
In the next Allan Wise over, the patient Paine blasted the fifth ball through the gully region for four to bring Tasmania their first outright points of the season.
The result leaves South Australia at the bottom of the ladder, still pointless after three games.
